Ron Weasley
Ronald "Ron" Bilius Weasley (born 1 March 1980) is a fictional character in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series of books. He has the trademark flaming red hair of the Weasleys and blue eyes. He is described as being tall, thin and gangly, with freckles, a long nose and big hands and feet.
Ron is a Gryffindor student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and is close friends with Harry Potter and Hermione Granger. He plays a key role in many of Harry's adventures.
Ron is a foil character to Harry. Ron's lack of money shines a light on Harry's fortune while Harry's lack of family is underscored by Ron's large, close-knit family. Ron, who is one of seven kids and not very gifted, recieves little attention, while Harry is one of the most famous wizards alive and almost always at the center of attention.
Ron is played in the films by Rupert Grint.
Ronald Weasley was born to Arthur Weasley and Molly Prewett Weasley. Ron is the sixth of seven children, and is the youngest son. Ron grew up in the family home, The Burrow, near the village of Ottery St. Catchpole in Devon. Ron has five older brothers, Bill, Charlie, Percy, twins Fred and George, and a younger sister, Ginny. The family is extremely close-knit.
While the Weasley family is an old and well-known pure-blood Wizarding family, and Ron's father is head of the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office of the Ministry of Magic's Department of Magical Law Enforcement, the family is poor. Ron is particularly self-conscious and frustrated by his family's poverty; indeed, his enemies at school taunt him for his lack of money.
Ron's older brothers have each excelled in various ways; Ron sometimes feels lost in the shadow of their accomplishments and has a great desire to be noticed in his own right. For example, while viewing the Mirror of Erised, Ron sees himself as Head Boy and captain of the Quidditch team:
I'm the sixth in our family to go to Hogwarts. You could say I've got a lot to live up to. Bill and Charlie have already left -- Bill was Head Boy and Charlie was captain of Quidditch. Now Percy's a prefect. Fred and George mess around a lot, but they still get really good marks and everyone thinks they're really funny. Everyone expects me to do as well as the others, but if I do, it's no big deal, because they did it first. You never get anything new, either, with five brothers. I've got Bill's old robes, Charlie's old wand, and Percy's old rat.
Ron has a sardonic, wisecracking sense of humour. Generally good-natured, Ron can sometimes be emotional and impulsive. He is terrified of spiders.
As he grows older, Ron is made a prefect (earning him the scorn of his troublemaker twin brothers), and is also chosen as the Keeper for Gryffindor. He can be an outstanding Keeper, but can be affected by nerves and occasionally lacks confidence in front of a crowd. He is an excellent Wizard's Chess player, and has some knowledge of Wizarding law, thanks to his father's position.

That was a good read about Ron. He's my favorite character since the beginning. I hope he still lives in the last book since I've read that many fans think he won't survive in the end.
AnnaR:
I'm pretty sure JKR isn't stupid, to kill off Ron! I really hope she doesn't. She knows that Ron is even more popular than Harry so that kind of makes me think that she'll realise there's a huge fanbase for Ron and won't make her fans dissapointed or something. But it is her book and she can write anything she wants.
sparklegirl:
i luv ron too. apparently j.k.rowling will have to kill off two main characters. imagine what would happen if she killed ron and not hermione. at least if they both died they would be able to live together (i hope!).
ron is so insecure that it is so cute, and i think that is what makes him so goo for hermione. hermione can tell him how wonderful he really is and ron can tell her how wonderful she is. it is so perfect!!!

Is definetly my favorite character! I love funny guys! I always liked guys who make me laugh! And Ron makes me laugh A LOT!!!!!! LOL
Sum1:
yeah....he provides the humor in the books....too bad book 7 will be anything but funny. All the same though, his life is at the mercy of jk's quill.
TheRomanticWriter:
I adore Ron. I hope to God he doesn't die. :(
but if that's what Mrs.Rowling wants...than well, that's what he gets. ::sobs at the thought::
anywho...I love how he brings the humer to the books. I love that red head to death, it wouldn't be Harry Potter without him!...well, technically it would because Harry would be there but....oh, I'm rambling, arn't I? ::blushes::
HSK:
I agree, Ron's funny and that's one of the reasons he's my favorite character. Plus even though he can come off as rude or sarcastic, there's a bravery about him and a true friend. He's a really good person and I think without him, the trio wouldn't be the same. I would like to see him survive in the end because it seems more meaningful to have him still around. :)

I just love ron because he is so imperfect. I hate it in books and movies when everyone is so unrealisticly perfect. He is just so faulted and so hot tempered that it is just udderly adorable! But at the same time through the faulted facade his own perfection shines through. But it is not regular perfection, it is his own special brand of it. I don't like harry because he is boaring sometimes. I don't mind hermione but she covers her feelings too much. But I absolutly adore Ron!
HSK:
^That is true. Ron is realistic and I think that's one of the reasons he's one of my favorite characters. He can be so relatable because of the things he says or does. I like that about him.
PheonixAngel:
Ron is my favorite male character! I also love him because he is reminds me of my boyfriend. Both are really tall, cute, hungry alot, love their sports (Ron Quidditch, my bf Wrestling), big family, Mr. Funny-Man, Crazy (in a good way), ain't a big fan of spiders, can have quiet a temper when mad, but is also just a big old loveable teddy bear. You could say I got my own Ronald Weasley! :) And what's funny about it is that my bf knows Ron only as 'the nerdy red-head guy'. I didn't even bother telling him I think exactly alike. I was too busy trying not to laugh my butt off!! 8o)
Sum1:
Sounds like your dream guy :) if you had to choose....ron, or your boyfriend? :p
PheonixAngel:
(: My boyfriend, of course! :)
MuggleChick04:
A lot of people say Ron is going to die in the 7th book and if he does i will be soo mad cuz of the r/hr relationship but i think it will be harry
Sum1:
you have to think about love as being more than material...if it was meant to be, hermione will have to go with ron, in this world or the next...but in one word, it must be love, whenever or wherever it is meant to exist.
MioneWeasley:
I don't think she will kill off Ron, she's said herself that she loves his character. God i really hope she doesn't kill him. He is by far the best Character, and if either one of them die, i am so not going to be happy.
PheonixAngel:
Dang, if any charater get killed, I'm going to be crying my eyes out!
But only for the good caraters of course!
halliepotter93:
Well, J.K. Rowling said in a lot of interviews that Harry, Ron, and Hermione are all going to live through all seven books. I am completely obssesed with Harry Potter, so I am always on the computer searching for everything related to it, that's how I know this. I think it will be Neville because of the whole prophecy/birthday conflict thing and Snape because I think Voldemort wanted Draco to kill of Dumbledore but Snape did it anyway.
Ginny_Potter0114:
I love Ron and Hermione's character, so I'm glad to hear that neither of them will die. Besides, I agree that he adds a lot to the books.
LoveRonLove03:
I don't think JKR is gonna kill any of the trio. If you think about it, these started out as books for kids about 12ish, and though they've gotten a lot darker, I feel that in the end, the trio will still be together. I know people are gonna die, but it's not gonna be Harry, Ron, or Hermione. It's like the last episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Their trio was Buffy, Willow, and Xander, and while people died in the final battle, the main three didn't die. The books are all about them. The characters that have died in the last few books, while they were important characters, they werent the trio. They werent the main people. They aren't the ones we all obsess over :]
